New Shelbyville area directory available in mobile application
Recycling available for old directories
MATTOON – The 2010-2011 Official Phone Book of Consolidated Communications for the Shelbyville area is now available in print, online and in an easy-to-use mobile formats, giving users the ability to search for business listings for their local area while they’re on the go.
The online and mobile directory can be search by keywords and phrases in addition to the traditional yellow page headings, and both versions also provide maps, driving directions and a link to many advertiser Web sites. An iPhone application is also available. To access the mobile versions, go to thephonebook.consolidated.com or consolidated.com.
The mobile application is another addition to the book’s handy features, such as the numerical cross reference guide that allows users to look up a phone number instead of the name. The directory also includes easy-to-read white and yellow page listings, and features several pages of Shelbyville community information, city maps and governmental listings.
Brad Barker, Consolidated Directory Services Manager, said Consolidated Communications is excited to offer the mobile application to its users. “The mobile access allows our users to access The Phone Book anywhere and at anytime,” he said. “With so many people using their cell phones to search online, we wanted to provide our customers with a way to find local information. The mobile application is also a great way to help the environment.”
Barker said in addition to working to recycle old directories, Consolidated’s directories are printed using environmentally safe inks and dyes and no trees are cut down to make paper for directories.
In addition to the traditional directory that was recently delivered to area residents, The Phone Book from Consolidated is also available in a mini book format. The mini format is ideal for use in tight places such as vehicles or offices.
Area residents can recycle their old directories and pick up additional books or mini directories at the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce and the Shelby County Office of Tourism.
