ILLINOIS – A friendly bet between Consolidated Communications employees in Illinois and Texas recently benefitted the Mattoon Community Food Center.
Consolidated Communications employees in Illinois and Texas made an arrangement based on the outcome of the recent 2011 World Series. The company’s Spirit Teams held jean day during the World Series, and each employee who participated paid $1 to wear jeans to work. The money gathered in Illinois would be sent to a charity in Texas if the Texas Rangers won the World Series. But, if the St. Louis Cardinals won, the Texas employees would send their money to the Mattoon Community Food Center.
Thanks to the Cardinals winning the World Series, the Mattoon Community Food Center received $195 from the Consolidated Communications Spirit Teams.
The company’s Spirit Team hosts events for employees and are dedicated to supporting community efforts and encouraging fellowship among employees.
