LUFKIN - Consolidated Communications employees recently donated 30 pairs of new shoes to the Lufkin Independent School District for distribution to students.

The Consolidated Communications Spirit Team hosted an employee pancake breakfast and asked for employees to either donate new pairs of shoes or cash. A raffle added to the donations and helped the group raise almost $200 to purchase additional shoes.

Tonja Akridge, a social worker with the Lufkin ISD, accepted the shoes from members of the Spirit Team.

Lufkin Spirit Team member Penny Miller thanked the Lufkin employees who participated in the drive and helped make it a success through shoe donations or monetary donations.  “I am so pleased to be able to help students with this donation and proud of our employees for their generous donations,” she said. “Hopefully, these donations made a great start to the school year for some of our students in need.”

Consolidated Communications’ Spirit Teams host quarterly events for employees and are dedicated to supporting community efforts and encouraging fellowship among employees.
