Call Forward
Call Forward is great for busy families who don't want to miss an important call while away from home. Call Forwarding allows your phone to transfer incoming calls to another number of your choice. It also provides security by never letting callers know you're away from home.

Once Call Forward is activated, you can still make outgoing calls from that phone. You also may change the number to which your calls are being transferred.

To forward your calls:

  1. Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Dial 72.
  3. Depress the # button (with a rotary dial phone, skip this step and wait for a 4-second pause).
  4. Listen for the special dial tone.
  5. Dial the number to which you want your calls forwarded. (Speed codes may be used if you have this feature.)
  6. When someone answers at the forwarded number, Call Forward is in effect.
  7. If there is no answer, or the line is busy, hang up and repeat the previous steps. If you do this within two minutes, you'll hear two beeps - meaning your Call Forward is in effect.
  8. Once you have activated Call Forward, the phone will make one short ring each time a call is forwarded. However, you can still make outgoing calls from this phone.
  9. If you wish to change the number to which your calls are being transferred, just discontinue Call Forward (below) and repeat the steps to forward your calls.

To discontinue Call Forward:

  1. Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Dial 73.
  3. Depress the # button (with a rotary dial phone, skip this step and wait for a 4-second pause).
  4. Listen for two beeps. Call Forward now is discontinued.

Call Return
Call Return lets you automatically call back the telephone number of your last incoming call, even if you don't know who was calling. If that number is busy, Call Return continues to monitor the line for up to 30 minutes and notifies you with a distinctive ring when the line is free.

To activate, dial *69.
To deactivate, dial *89
Customers without touch-tone service should dial 11 for the * (star) key.

Call Waiting
When you're on the phone and someone else calls, you'll hear a brief tone signal. The person with whom you are talking may hear a slight click. After 10 seconds, you will hear a reminder tone. The second caller hears only the usual ringing signal.

To Answer the Second Call:
Press the switchhook for one second to place your first call on hold. You automatically will be connected to the second caller. Press the switchhook again to return to the first caller.

To Alternate Between Calls:
Simply press the switchhook for one second each time you want to alternate between calls. Each conversation is private and cannot be heard by the other caller.

To terminate either call:
End the conversation with your party, then either press the switchhook or hang up.

Note: You may turn off Call Waiting so important calls won't be interrupted or to prevent data transmission errors caused by Call Waiting tones when using computer modems. See "Cancel Call Waiting."

If you choose to ignore a Call Waiting tone, you can call that number back automatically after you've finished the first call. See "Call Return".

BACK TO LIST

Cancel Call Waiting
Cancel Call Waiting allows you to turn off Call Waiting so important calls won't be interrupted. It also prevents data transmission errors caused by Call Waiting tones when using computer modems. Any incoming calls will receive a busy signal. You can activate Cancel Call Waiting before placing a call or after the connection is established. Once the call is completed, Cancel Call Waiting automatically is terminated.

To Use Cancel Call Waiting:
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Press * 7 0 for touchtone customers (dial 1170 from rotary phones).
When you complete your call, hang up. Call Waiting automatically will be reactivated.

Call Waiting ID
Call Waiting ID combines two of our most popular features: Call Waiting and Caller ID. This feature lets you see the date, time, name and number of most direct-dialed local calls and some long-distance calls, even when you're already on the phone.

With Call Waiting ID, a special tone lets you know if another call is coming in. Then the caller's name and/or telephone number appears on a special Call Waiting ID display unit, so you can decide whether to answer the call now, return the call later, or not take the call at all.

You must subscribe to both Call Waiting and Caller ID to use Call Waiting ID.

BACK TO LIST

Caller ID
The choice is yours! Now you can decide who you want to talk to and when. Caller ID provides you and your family with both peace of mind and convenience: no more wondering who's calling, and no more valuable time wasted talking to someone you would rather not. With Caller ID, you'll see the name and phone number of the person calling on a special display unit before you pick up the phone. Many Caller ID display units also store the date and time of the call, so if you're not home or just don't want to answer the phone, you can still return the call.

Rejecting Anonymous Calls
Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR). Your telephone will not ring for "anonymous callers." Instead, the caller hears a message that you do not accept calls from blocked numbers. Callers will have to redial without blocking, place the call from another telephone number, or make an operator-assisted call. You can easily turn ACR on or off by dialing a code:

To activate ACR, press *96.
To deactivate ACR, press *97
Customers without touch-tone service should dial 11 for the * (star) key.

Blocking Your Name and Number from Caller ID
Blocking your information for one call. To "block" (prevent sending) your own name and number to other Caller ID subscribers, dial "*67" on a touch tone phone or "1167" on a rotary phone before dialing the telephone number. You will hear a "stutter" tone, which that tells you per-call blocking is working. Calls blocked on a per-call basis will be displayed on the Caller ID display unit as "Anonymous" or "Private." Per-call blocking is free of charge. You do not have to subscribe to a Caller ID service to have per-call blocking.

Even if you have an unpublished or unlisted number, your number will be displayed unless you choose to block on a per-call or per-line basis.

To block your caller ID information from one call, press *67.
Customers without touch-tone service should dial 11 for the * (star) key.

Blocking your caller ID information for every call. To block your name and number from every call you make, you can get "per-line" blocking at no charge by mailing a written request that includes (1) your name, address, and telephone number (as shown on your bill) (2) your signature, and (3) the following statement, "I have a compelling need for per-line blocking" to the: Public Utility Commission of Texas, P.O. Box 9550, Austin, Texas 78766-9945. You do not need to explain your reason because all requests are granted automatically. Or you may obtain a Caller ID per-line blocking card by calling the Consolidated Communications Business Office. Per-line blocking can be canceled at any time by calling the Consolidated Communications Business Office.

Calls blocked on a per-line basis will be displayed on others' caller ID display unit as "Anonymous" or "Private." A customer with per-line blocking who is trying to call someone with Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) will have to call from a payphone or wireless phone, make an operator-assisted call, or call from a phone without per-line blocking. Per-line blocking customers can unblock their information:

To unblock your caller ID information for one call:
Press *82 on a touch-tone phone or 1182 on a rotary dial phone before placing a call. (*82 or 1182 must be dialed before each call you want unblocked.)

Note: Both per-call and per-line blocking will not block your telephone number to Emergency 9-1-1, nor will it prevent your number from being transmitted on 700, 800, or 900 calls. Calls from a payphone cannot be blocked.

What calls will Caller ID Identify?
Caller ID will identify most direct-dialed local calls and most long distance calls. Caller ID will not identify numbers that have been blocked, some wireless calls, some long-distance numbers, operator-assisted calls, and calls originating in areas where Caller ID is not available.
