Consolidated Communications Named IP Innovator of the Year

MATTOON, Illinois - Consolidated Communications was recently honored as Cisco
Systems’ “IP Innovator of the Year” for 2006 at the TelecomNEXT industry event in Las Vegas.
Consideration for this award was given to hundreds of telephone and Internet companies across
the United States. Vice President-Telephone Operations Joe Dively accepted the honor for
Consolidated Communications.

Cisco Systems recognized Consolidated Communications for its steady progress in
building a world class Internet Protocol (IP) network. Such a network allows Consolidated to
continue the migration of its legacy networks to a core IP network, creating efficiencies and
establishing the base foundation to offer next generation IP services such as expanded capabilities
with its Digital Video Services, Voice over IP (VoIP) and IP Metro Ethernet services. The IP
network positions Consolidated to deliver an all-IP product set to the edge of the network, closer
to the customer, allowing for virtually limitless possibilities in next generation service delivery,
such as unified communications, customized content and other interactive applications.

“Innovative providers such as Consolidated are driving the next wave of advanced
services based on a willingness and ability to map network and service development to their
customers’ changing needs,” said Vic Northrup, area vice president at Cisco. “Cisco is pleased to
recognize Consolidated for its ongoing deployment of industry-leading technology to further its
progress and enable its customers’ success.”

“Consolidated Communications is gratified to be chosen by Cisco Systems for our IP
innovations,” said Dively. “The investment in our core IP network allows us to provide high
quality voice and broadband services as well as many new applications and content our customers
want, such as our Digital Video Services (DVS) product and high-speed Internet. It also positions
us for future VoIP offerings and other cutting edge IP-based services.”

Consolidated Communications launched its innovative DVS product last year in Illinois.
The television service features more than 200 channels and is currently available in much of
Consolidated’s service area in Central Illinois.
