MATTOON -- Consolidated Communications announced today
that it would begin offering innovative TV service, called Digital Video Services (DVS),
in the near future to customers in Mattoon, Gays, Charleston and Effingham. By utilizing
new technologies and existing telephone lines, the local telecommunications company
will deliver exceptional quality TV service to its customers.

provide the highest quality service available,. said Joseph Dively, senior vice president
and president of Telephone Operations, Illinois.
Instead of using a satellite or cable, DVS will be delivered to customers via
existing telephone lines to their televisions. Consolidated will offer up to 200 digital
channels through the state-of-the-art technology.

price to satellite and cable service along with more local and regional programming
choices,. Dively said. .DVS subscribers will be able to watch television, use the Internet
and use the telephone simultaneously, with one point of contact and one bill for all
services..
Local and premium channels, digital audio, Pay-Per-View and an interactive program
guide will be offered through the service. All video packages will also include the interactive
program guide, 45 digital-audio channels, universal remote controls and digital set
top boxes.
Through DVS, Consolidated will also introduce Movies On Demand to the area.
Movies On Demand allows subscribers to pay to view an individual title, or a set of titles,
and have the ability to use interactive functions, such as play, stop, pause, etc., via remote
control.
