Consolidated returns $38,000 to schools through Earning for Learning program

MATTOON – Consolidated Communications continues to support the education of local children
by returning a portion of the company’s long distance and Internet service revenues to schools through the
Earning for Learning (EFL) program.

 Recently, more than $38,000 was returned to 36 local school districts
and education foundations participating in the program, representing the company’s second quarter
contribution for 2005.

Through the EFL program, school districts and educational foundations receive 2.5 percent of
revenues from long distance and 2.5 percent of Internet service revenues from the Consolidated customers
in the school’s area. The schools typically use the funds to pay for computer equipment and software, art
supplies, teacher grants, playground equipment and items not typically covered by the school budget.

Arthur EFL, $887; Assumption, $850; Atwood-Hammond, $493; Charleston Excellence in Education,

Hillsboro District 3, $3,560; Kincaid – Southfork School District, $602; Litchfield District 12, $2,566;

School, Sigel, $309; Stewardson-Strasburg, $809; Taylorville EFL, $3,228; and Windsor District 1, $723.
