Consolidated Communications Awards Grant to Taylorville Teacher For Technology Purchase

October 15, 2013 - Consolidated Communications recently awarded a grant for $1,500 to Taylorville Junior High School teacher Kathy Mansfield to purchase a smart board for her classroom.

Mansfield submitted the grant proposal through Consolidated’s Earning for Learning (EFL) program to purchase a Promethean Interactive Board.

“The Earning for Learning grant allows my class to have another learning tool. A Promethean Board gives my students a multi-media approach to learning and will help meet the academic needs of our students,” Mansfield said.

Sarah Greider of Consolidated Communications made donation on behalf of the company and said she’s glad to see teachers excited about the EFL program and putting the funds to use in our schools.  “Our Earning for Learning grants are designed to support education in the communities we serve, and contribution will benefit Taylorville students,” she said.

The EFL program has donated more than $3.2 million to local schools to use for teacher grants, computer and software purchase and other items and projects not included in typical school budgets. Participating schools are invited to submit a grant application to request funds for a specific financial need. Grants are approved based on the description of need and funds available at the time of the request.
