Company's Earning For Learning (EFL) Program Supports 19 Area Schools and Foundations
MATTOON, Ill. - May 18, 2018 – Consolidated Communications 
recently awarded $36,000 in grants to local schools through its Earning For Learning (EFL) program during a reception at the company’s headquarters in Mattoon.
Consolidated’s EFL program funds activities and purchases that enhance educational opportunities for students through technology and innovative learning. The program has awarded $3.5 million in grants to districts in east central Illinois since 1993.
Representatives from 19 area schools and education foundations received grant awards including:
Arcola CUSD #306 – Grant to purchase smart boards.
Arthur CUSD # 305 – Grant to purchase and incorporate 360-degree cameras and virtual reality technology into lessons.
Charleston Excellence in Education Foundation – Funding for foundation grants within Charleston CUSD #1 for new technology and tools.
Effingham Unit 40 Education Foundation – Funding for foundation grants for technology tools, classroom materials and scholarships.
Hillsboro CUSD #3 –Funding for a mobile tablet lab for K-5 grade levels.
Litchfield Student Education Foundation – Funding for grants for special projects and materials.
Mattoon Foundation for Academic Excellence – Funding for family engagement mini-grants and place-based Education grants to benefit the students of Mattoon CUSD #2.
Mattoon St. John’s Lutheran School – Grant to purchase 3D printer.
Morrisonville CUSD #1 – Grant to purchase additional electronic tablets.
Nokomis CUSD #22 – Grant to fund LCD projectors for classrooms.
Oakland CUSD #5 – Matching grant to fund a mobile computer lab for junior high math classroom.
Pana CUSD #8 – Grant to purchase technology for library upgrade project.
Panhandle CUSD #2 – Grant to purchase interactive learning kits for K-1 grade classrooms.
Shelbyville CUSD #4 – Grant to purchase tablets 6-8 grade special education classroom.
Sigel St. Michael School – Grant to purchase frogs and worms for dissection in junior high classes.
South Fork School District #14 – Grant to purchase Interactive white board for special education classroom.
Stewardson-Strasburg CUSD #5A – Grant to purchase interactive coding kits for elementary classrooms.
Taylorville CUSD #3 – Grant to help create a new STEM lab
Windsor CUSD #1 – Grant to purchase smart TVs for the school.

Consolidated Communications EFL grants are awarded on an annual basis through a grant application process open to schools in the company’s east central Illinois service area.
