EFL Grant to Cowden-Herrick schoolsJuly 30, 2012 - Consolidated Communications recently awarded a $500 grant to the Cowden-Herrick School District from the company’s Earning for Learning (EFL) program to purchase electronic tablets for a pilot program.

The tablets will be used in a pilot program in high school science classes, according to the grant request.

“Our high school science teacher is developing a pilot program to eventually use electronic tablets in her classroom,” said Rita Prosser, district employee. “This is just the beginning of our hopes to have one for each student.”

“We’re excited to provide some funding to purchase electronic tablets for this pilot program in the Cowden-Herrick district,” said Laura ZuHone, of Consolidated Communications. “Our Earning for Learning grants are designed to support education in the communities we serve and we feel this program is worthwhile.”

The EFL program has donated more than $3 million to local schools to use for teacher grants, computer and software purchase and other items and projects not included in typical school budgets. Participating schools are invited to submit a grant application to request funds for a specific financial need. Grants are approved based on the description of need and funds available at the time of the request.
