June 11, 2012 - Consolidated Communications employees recently donated more than 485 pounds of food to the Mattoon C
ommunity Food Center along with $220.
After reading about the food center’s needs, a group of employees from Consolidated’s Public Services company challenged other work groups to bring in non-perishable food donations and cash donations during May.
“I’m proud of the way our employees supported this project. Our group has typically worked to improve morale and recognize people within our department, but we decided we wanted to do something bigger, something that would help people in our community,” said Sandy Speer, Consolidated Public Services supervisor.
The employees placed collection bins in company buildings throughout Mattoon and gathered donations from co-workers. The employees made the donation to the food center on Wednesday.
