Consolidated Communications Community Fund Announces $155,000 in Grant Awards

Community Fund supports education and community initiatives                                                                                 

March 18, 2016 — The Consolidated Communications Community Fund of the Mankato Area Foundation is pleased to announce $155,000 in grant awards to 26 non-profit organizations across the company’s southern Minnesota service area.  Consolidated’s Community Fund supports local programs that enhance and strengthen educational opportunities and provide critical community services.                                                                                                       

Grants are being awarded to the following organizations:

  • Minnesota State University, Mankato – AVID program, scholarships and theatre performance; $15,000
  • Educare Foundation – educator initiative grants; $12,500
  • ECHO Food Shelf – egg and milk vouchers; $10,000
  • Feeding Our Community Partners – Backpack Food Program; $10,000
  • Junior Achievement – Titan Business Challenge & Company Programs; $10,000
  • South Central College – scholarships, STEM career day; $10,000
  • VINE Faith in Action – Adult Literacy Center; $10,000
  • Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA)  – camera technology; $5,000
  • Connecting Kids – outreach programming; $5,000
  • Greater Mankato Diversity Council – Prejudice Reduction Workshops; $5,000
  • Gustavus Adolphus College – Nobel Conference; $5,000
  • Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center – senior programs; $5,000
  • Leisure Education for Exceptional People (LEEP) – youth programming; $5,000
  • Lifeworks  – technology project; $5,000
  • Lutheran Social Services, The Reach – Youth Drop-In Center; $5,000
  • St. Peter Childcare Program – Come Grow With Us; $5,000
  • Waseca-Le Sueur Library – Level Up! STEM programming; $5,000
  • YWCA Mankato – Walking in Two Worlds & Girls on the Run; $5,000
  • Wellcome Manor Family Services – technology project; $4,500
  • Lifework Planning Center – Women in Transition Program; $4,000
  • Maple River Loaves & Fishes – Milk & Egg Program; $4,000
  • Ruth’s House of Hope – Transitional Shelter Program; $3,000
  • Science Museum of Minnesota – southern Minnesota engineering school outreach tour; $3,000
  • Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial School District – Climbing Wall; $2,000
  • Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services – Legal Fair; $1,000
  • St. Peter Choral Society – Annual Concert -- $1,000

“We’re pleased to continue our long history of supporting non-profit organizations in the greater Mankato area with 26 grant awards  totaling $155,000,” said Jennifer Spaude, senior director of corporate communications at Consolidated Communications.  “We understand the importance of building a stronger community and are proud to support the community through our Community Fund grants, corporate giving and employee volunteer work.”

Consolidated Communications Community Fund grants are awarded through the Mankato Area Foundation on an annual basis through a grant application process. In addition to grant awards, the Consolidated Communications Community Fund’s Employee Matching Gift Program and Employee Volunteer Bonus Program provided more than $19,000 in support to non-profit organizations last year.
