The company’s educational grant program providing support the creation of a competitive robotics program
Shelbyville, Ill. – December 13, 2023 – Shelbyville High School was recently awarded a $5,000 grant to support program to support the creation a competitive robotics program from Consolidated Communication’s Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program. The program directs support to K-12 schools within the company’s service area in support of innovative, technology-focused learning programs that advance creative student learning, develop 21st century skills and promote critical thinking.
Grant funding will allow Shelbyville High School to create a new competitive robotics team, which will be a part of the Robotics class at the school. The team is expecting to compete in a minimum of three competitions each year through the First Robotics League.
"Shelbyville High School would like to thank Consolidated Communications for funding the creation of our competitive robotics program through their grant program,” said Kyle Ladd, principal at Shelbyville High School. “The equipment provided by this grant will allow our students to learn first-hand how to problem solve and work together as a team. SHS is excited to give our students this opportunity to grow through the support of Consolidated Communications."
Participating students will complete team-based challenges, which will help meet educational requirements for access to pathways of learning. Through competitions, students will also be eligible for scholarship opportunities available to them as a member of the robotics team.
