Lake Crest School Receives Grant From Consolidated Communications' EFL Program

March 12, 2012 - Consolidated Communications recently awarded a grant to the Lake Crest Elementary School from the company’s Earning for Learning (EFL) program for the school’s Pennies for Our Playground drive.

The contribution of $1,000, or 100,000 pennies, will add to the money already collected by students, parents and the school district for the campaign.

“We’re pleased to award this grant of $1,000 for a new swing set, as part of the Pennies for Our Playground drive,” said Laura ZuHone, of Consolidated Communications. “Our Earning for Learning grants are designed to support education in the communities we serve, and we feel this donation will help in the school’s plan to encourage students to be active.”

Lake Crest School RN Vivian Hudson said outdoor play is essential to the well-being and health of students. “This swing set and new playground will be used by hundreds of children for decades. Consolidated’s Earning for Learning program and the company’s commitment to our local schools is greatly appreciated,” Hudson said.

Since 1993, Consolidated Communications’ EFL program has donated more than $3 million to local schools to use for teacher grants, computer and software purchase and other items and projects not included in typical school budgets. Participating schools are invited to submit a grant application to request funds for a specific financial need. Grants are approved based on the description of need and funds available at the time of the request.
