Smith Promoted to Chief Marketing Officer at Consolidated Communications

December 5, 2013 - Michael Smith was recently named Chief Marketing Officer at Consolidated Communications.

His responsibilities include Product Development and Management, Marketing Strategy, Advertising, Corporate Communications and Consumer Sales.

Bob Udell, President and COO, said Smith’s experience building the company’s marketing strategy around the customer is essential to future product development. “His leadership as our Marketing Chief, coupled with customer-oriented product development and community marketing approach, is key to our future,” Udell said.

Smith joined Consolidated Communications in 1989 and has held management positions in Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Customer Service during his career and served as General Manager of the company's former Consolidated Market Response in Charleston. He has also served as Vice President and General Manager of CLEC Sales, Business Systems and Marketing during his career with the company.

Active in the community, Smith serves as Chairperson of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center and Health System Board of Directors and is a member of the EIU Panther Club. His is a past President of the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, past President of the EIU Panther Club and a past member of Coles Together. 

He graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in Business Administration, and is active St. Charles Borromeo Church in Charleston.

Smith and his wife, Maureen, have five children: Lauren, Emily, Catherine, Michael and Abby.
