Consolidated Communications’ Community Fund Awards $160,000 in Grants

Grants awarded to 27 non-profit organizations in southern Minnesota                                                                                                              

MANKATO, Minn., – March 16, 2021 – The Consolidated Communications Community Fund of the Mankato Area Foundation is pleased to award $160,000 in grants to 27 local non-profit organizations across the company’s southern Minnesota service area. Consolidated’s Community Fund focuses its support on local programs that meet critical community needs, such as hunger and homelessness, along with initiatives that provide opportunities for innovative education and learning.

2021 Grants are being awarded to the following organizations:

o    Minnesota State University, Mankato – scholarships; $15,000

o    Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota – museum exhibit prototype; $10,000

o    Committee Against Domestic Abuse – direct assistance program; $10,000

o    ECHO Food Shelf – dairy products for children; $10,000

o    Feeding Our Community Partners – BackPack and Power Pack Food Programs; $10,000

o    Mankato Area Public Schools – greenhouse construction for agricultural education; $10,000

o    Partners for Affordable Housing – permanent housing stability for the homeless $10,000

o    South Central College – scholarships; $10,000

o    Junior Achievement of Greater Mankato Area – Titan Business Challenge and entrepreneurial programs; $10,000

o    Educare Foundation – foundation grants; $7,500

o    Greater Mankato Diversity Council – Promoting Respect Workshops; $5,000

o    Life-Work Planning Center – Women in Transition Program; $5,000

o    Mankato Area Catholic Schools – technology-related programs to enhance student learning; $5,000

o    Mankato Youth Place – First Hour Program; $5,000

o    MRCI – transportation for community integration; $5,000

o    VINE – learning opportunities for aging adults; $5,000

o    YWCA – Smart, Strong and Bold Youth Program; $5,000

o    YMCA – Brother / Sister mentoring program; $4,000

o    Bethlehem Inn – programming expenses to help homeless women and children become self-sufficient; $3,000

o    Connections Ministry – assistance for transition to year-round homeless shelter; $3,000

o    Lake Crystal Recreation Center – youth to senior program; $3,000

o    Habitat for Humanity – Aging in Place pilot program; $3,000

o    Salvation Army – emergency assistance program; $2,500

o    The Christopher Center for Children with Autism and their Families – services for children with autism; $1,000

o    FarmAmerica – STEM-related field trips; $1,000

o    Minnesota Council of Churches – refugee coaching and mentoring; $1,000

o    Twin Valley Council Boy Scouts of America – Summer Camp and EXPO 2021; $1,000

Consolidated’s Community Fund grants are awarded on an annual basis through a grant application process. Grant requests for the next fiscal year will open in early fall and are due Dec. 1, 2021.
