The company’s educational grant program providing technology to support the school’s English Language Learners program
ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Oct. 9, 2023 – John Adams Academy was recently awarded a $5,000 grant to support its English Language Learners program from Consolidated Communication’s Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program. The program directs support to K-12 schools within the company’s service area in support of innovative, technology-focused learning programs that advance creative student learning, develop 21st century skills and promote critical thinking.
Grant funding will support the EL program at John Adams Academy, specifically to provide translation technology to allow teachers to communicate with students who do not speak the same language.
“We are grateful to Consolidated Communications for helping to fund this incredible opportunity for our scholars,” states, John Adams Academy Executive Director, Joseph Benson. “The utilization of these resources will have an immediate and direct impact on the lives of young learners. These devices will help English learners to access our model of education that focuses on primary sources to develop servant leaders.”
With the support of grant funding, students and teachers will be provided with translator earbuds, which translate verbally and in writing what a teacher says and the student replies. While the student hears the lesson in their language of choice, it also dictates what the teacher is speaking as text onto the student’s Chromebook in both English and the student's specified language. All that is needed is a WiFi or other reliable internet connection to be able to use the translation technology, which allows all students to take part in class discussions and be an active member of the classroom.
