Consolidated Communications Awards Grant to Arcola School District

August 1, 2014 – Consolidated Communications recently awarded a grant for $1,000 to Arcola School District #306 toward the purchase of additional Apple iPads.

Superintendent Tom Mulligan submitted the grant proposal through Consolidated’s Earning for Learning (EFL) program to purchase additional iPads to help the district pilot its 1:1 technology device environment in its English Second Language and special education classrooms. The district is moving to a 1:1 program over the next few years.

Sarah Greider of Consolidated Communications presented the check and said she’s proud the company can help local schools.  “Our Earning for Learning grants are designed to support education in the communities we serve, and we’re pleased to award this grant to the Arcola district to help turn its 1:1 technology plan into a reality,” Greider said.

The EFL program has donated more than $3.2 million to local schools to use for teacher grants, computer and software purchase and other items and projects not included in typical school budgets. Participating schools are invited to submit a grant application to request funds for a specific financial need. Grants are approved based on the description of need and funds available at the time of the request.
