Consolidated Communications Awards Grants to Atwood-Hammond School District

August 1, 2014 – Consolidated Communications recently awarded grants totaling $630 to three teachers at Atwood-Hammond Grade School, which is now a part of Arthur CUSD #305.

Sarah Greider from Consolidated Communications and teachers Katie Shoemaker, Mallory Crist, Vanessa Davis
and Principal Lindsay Blickenstaff.

Two of the grants will help buy books for the classrooms of Katie Shoemaker and Mallory Crist and the third will buy a listening center for the first grade classroom of Vanessa Davis.
Sarah Greider of Consolidated Communications made the donation and said she’s glad the company can help local schools.  “Our Earning for Learning grants are targeted to support education in the communities we serve, and we’re pleased to award these grants to increase the variety of reading material at the right reading level and add a listening center to the first grade classroom,” Greider said.

The EFL program has donated more than $3.2 million to local schools to use for teacher grants, computer and software purchase and other items and projects not included in typical school budgets. Participating schools are invited to submit a grant application to request funds for a specific financial need. Grants are approved based on the description of need and funds available at the time of the request.
