Consolidated Communications Adds Hurricane Electric to its Global Network at its Houston Data Center

Consolidated customers will now have access to leading Global IP Network

April 20, 2017 - Consolidated Communications’ welcomes Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, to its Houston-based Walker Meet Me Room (MMR) at 811 Louisiana, which offers fiber assets and provides regional, national and international access.

“Our new connection with Hurricane provides a direct exchange of IP traffic over a low latency backbone resulting in reduced long haul transit costs, not only for our carrier fiber exchange customers, but also businesses within the DASH region,” said Brian Carr, vice president of carrier services at Consolidated Communications. “Our client’s reach has now become global while strengthening the IP offering in the Houston market.”

This partnership will enable customers of Consolidated Communications access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) service, providing increased throughput, reduced latency and improved reliability in the delivery of next generation IP services.

Located in the heart of Houston’s downtown business district, the Walker MMR at 811 Louisiana Street, houses tier I carriers, wireless providers, higher education entities and remote DC partners. Tenants may enter the MMR via their own building facilities or utilize Consolidated’s diverse entrances in and out of Houston’s largest fiber hub.
